David J is an English musician, best known as a founding member of the influential gothic rock band Bauhaus and the post-punk group Love and Rockets. Born David John Haskins on April 1, 1961, he played a pivotal role in the emergence of the gothic rock genre in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Bauhaus, formed in 1978, gained fame with their 1980 single "Bela Lugosi's Dead," which is often credited as one of the defining tracks of the gothic rock movement. After Bauhaus disbanded, David J pursued a solo career and released notable albums such as "Etiquette of Violence" (1983) and "Crocodile Tears and the Velvet Cosh" (1984).
